FRAME OF REFERENCE: To deliver maximum speed through highly efficient power transfer and precise handling, our engineering team established new standards in torsional rigidity and bottom bracket stiffness. This achievement was made possible through an integrated development approach, merging a structurally superior double diamond layout with a shock cradled inside the top tube, finished with the most sophisticated composite layup in Specialized's history.
SHOCKINGLY FAST: The Specialized Ride Dynamics team invented a revolutionary shock technology for the Epic World Cup, providing the efficiency and responsiveness of a hardtail, plus the control, capability, and momentum-carrying benefits of full suspension—all with a simple setup. Co-developed with RockShox, the SID Deluxe WCID shock features independently adjustable positive and negative air springs, delivering the sought-after hardtail "snap," combined with terrain-devouring forgiveness. Riders can easily personalize the setup for specific courses or preferences. Set it firm for a fast, efficient ride, like a hardtail, but it opens up on big bumps and descents. Alternatively, set it softer for a plush, trail-smoothing experience. This flexibility allows for a wide range of adjustments between firm and soft.

Designed to be ridden at or near full extension, it offers the same positive travel as a 100mm travel bike set up with 25% sag. To further optimize suspension performance, the Ride Dynamics team tuned the spring rate to remain relatively flat through the mid-stroke, handling most bump forces like a longer travel bike.
